One Chapter Closes

My Radical Family,

It pains me to share that after two incredible years spearheading the movement to shop women-owned, Radical Girl Gang is officially closing on January 31st, 2022.

As you may know, I started this business as a solopreneur with $0 in the bank, bootstrapping year one and proudly growing by 12X. I set out to fundraise in 2021 as venture capital funding to women-owned businesses simultaneously dropped to a five-year low of just 2.2%For the last year, that’s what I’ve been going up against as a young, female, first-time founder building a women-centric business.

Unfortunately, our recent crowdfunding campaign has been so far off target that it's made a dramatic impact on our ability to scale through 2022. Our goal was to raise sufficient funds to propel us forward, but it simply hasn't panned out that way despite our absolute best efforts. This decision has ultimately come down to prioritizing our mental, physical and financial wellbeing in light of the reality that we aren't adequately funded for another year.

We're deeply grateful to each of you for embarking on this journey with us. Since we launched in November 2019, we've collectively supported 100+ emerging women-owned brands from across the USA, 50% of which have been helmed by women of color. We've championed the LGBTQ+ community, raised thousands for anti-racism organizations like MEASURE and directed nearly $200K towards women-owned businesses. All by voting with our dollars.

Speaking on behalf of our mighty team of two, igniting this movement has been the joy and honor of our lives. While this certainly isn't the outcome we wanted, we also know wholeheartedly that the work we've done has made a dent in the universe and has helped lay the groundwork for a better, more equitable future for women.

I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve built, the impact we’ve made for women entrepreneurs and the legacy that will continue.

Don't forget: every time a woman dares to enter the arena and bravely try, *that* is true success.

In sisterhood forever,

— Bre Cruickshank, CEO + Founder (@jesuisbre)
